Networking, and then networking, and then more networking. Technical skills are easier to learn, that simply takes time and setting goals for yourself to take classes or do outside research. Learning how to communicate with others and provide value to them will give you unsurmountable leverage in the future.

By planting a quality seed, you reap quality benefits

The traits that create successful people in vast industries will boil down to 3 common ones, you can research this if you want but i’m using what i’ve seen and experienced in my own life:

  1. Courage
  2. Unrelenting Passion
  3. Perseverance

I’ll get back to networking and its overwhelming practically as well as long term benefit but i’ll speak to the Big 3 first.

Courage to be your own person

You’ll want to change your beliefs and core values to match those in a professional industry, at least that’s what you think and what others may tell you but don’t listen to them.

WHO YOU ARE is much more valuable and people will respect you for that; don’t be fooled into how much income they make, how much you make is an objective definition that lends to nothing but ego boosting. It will not help you become the best in your craft.

Have Unrelenting Passion For Your Craft

The more you give, the more you think about it, the more you put in 20 hours of work because you LOVE IT is when the long term benefits show up after years of continuous sweat and tears have been given. It’s not about immediate ROI here, in order to become the most powerful version of yourself it’s about YOU GROWING STRONGER.

Persevere When Times Get Tough – They Will

The worst thing you can ever do in your life is quitting on you, there’s too much to live for and so much you can do with your energy and heart. Times will get tough, you will encounter roadblock after roadblock after never ending roadblock – in the beginning and middle.

It’s only toward the end when all of your genuine hard work has gifted you with reaping those quality seeds you planted 10 years ago.

How does this relate to the aspect of networking? Well, when you know enough people and help enough people get what they want, then you’ll have whatever it is you want.

Get to know as many people who have influence in the industry you’re in and you’ll look back 5 years from now at this point and say to yourself, “I’m glad I took a chance and started to network”.
